I wanted to sleep early but at this moment, I just don't think it's possible...

Hello to my BLOG! I haven't written anything here in a while, most of these type of entries are hard to come by nowadays. It's the beginning of a whole new year, another year full of opportunities, setbacks, and growth. I was sick all through out the holidays which left me incapable of doing pretty much anything at the time. I mostly nested in this fine mattress located inside my bright and very yellow room or abused the most amazing investment ever, netflix.

Still, I am very thankful for all the precious moments and the learning experiences I've had in the year 2011. I feel happy that I was able to practice teaching children this year; I am so happy to be employed, to be part of someone's first early years in life, to share those meaningful experiences and the opportunity to learn what methods work best in my professional field.

I feel happy, thankful and secure with my very first grown up relationship--I find that it's hard to come by whatever it is...that ...weird dynamic thing he and I have with each other, it just seems to work for the both of us. Surprisingly so that I haven't really shed any tears which means that I'm happy, content and looking forward.

I am so glad that I can teach as well as do photography on the side. I'm very blessed to have met some wonderful people that help shape and create more consistency and creativity in my other passion. Thanks to my partners and my friends. You are a big deal and I love you all, you're all inspiring !

My family and my close friends have been a wonderful support system for me this past year.

I love it all!

I won't deny that I've been consumed by working and the random things that go on around me, I have not really been an adequate blogger especially when it comes to my personal life. In times of great stress or relentless laziness, I neglect the very thing that keeps me rested and going, my room. People (my family) feel either sorry or disgusted by the space in which I occupy; I try every single season to weed out more things from my room but it seems impossible to do so! I can't possibly let go of my precious belongings, I just think of more ways in which I could bring in more clutter! My closet door has been broken for months now, my room has been repainted but never finished, my windows are in dire need of a curtain and my wall needs shelves / hooks for my frames, and it seems like I never have enough room for my books or my clothes!

Can you believe that when I came home today, my room magically transformed into this beautiful space! I'm so fortunate that my dad fixed my closet and added the wall shelves that I so badly wanted! I was completely amazed that I started to move all my little trinkets on it (making my room earthquake prone = but who cares) I laughed (more like cackled) MADLY!!! I couldn't contain the happiness ! Finally, I have the urge to clean -sort and rearrange this room again! and there's a reason to! Everything was so neat! and perfect!

It's time to go to IKEA soon. =D

& To continue further self induced distraction, I am now writing a blog about what I have managed to learn this past weekend. I compartmentalize my life so I don't have to ever feel that I'm being pulled in several directions by the options I have committed myself to or obligations I have with people I surround myself with. So here it is, I am fully aware that I have been extending my reign on photography this past few months and I am delving into the field of lifestyle more as oppose to what I was doing many years ago, it seems that the more I shoot the more I am secure with the style I am going for. It's easy to stay true to your form of artwork or rely heavily on your equipment and known style; this is you working on your identity & nurturing what you love most. For me, this can also mean that my work is becoming redundant and I need to delve deeper or experiment more.It's always intimidating when someone critiques your work, I know that I have not done any conceptual pieces in long time and that I will be needing to put more time, thought and effort in my passion if I want to pursue more growth. This weekend my mentor spoke to me about all of the things I should be mindful of so that I wouldn't get stuck and fall out of love with photography.

Experiment more.
Get inspired. Look @ more works of art.
Get more experience. Get work. Collaborate.
Be resourceful.
Keep your windows and doors open for opportunities
Keep following up that calendar. Constant communication = key to booking.
Sell your skills. Make it work.
Surround yourself with people who will push you to be your best.
Never drop that camera. It doesn't belong inside a closet/cabinet/ drawer/ bag tucked away collecting dust.

Just as it is for my personal and professional development - Keep learning. Keep growing. (photography is only my hobby slash side job, I do have a career and a personal life) =D

Whitnee Turner is my go to person when I want to try out something new, I've also had the chance to work with her a couple of times in the past. Since it's 2011 and it's a brand new year, I thought it would be good to start it off with something different. If you have been following my work, I tend to prefer working outdoors but I do like to dip my hands into both indoor and outdoor work. It's all experience for me, it's also a chance for me to grow and fine tune my work. At least, that's how I view it.

Whitnee's a lovely girl, I have known her since I was fifteen year's old. I'm turning 23 now so! (you can do the math later) Did I mention that she has a bangin' body? and a great personality? Guess that makes me lucky. I originally wanted whitnee to move against her personal nature, however the best shots I've gathered from her session were of her being herself. So I hope you can see how playful her eyes are -just the way I see them. =]

My sister visits my webpage every now and then, you can probably tell that she's one of my muses. I elected she come and contribute to one of my sessions because she's pretty great when it comes to posing and expressing her individuality. I haven't had the chance to shoot the studio using a black backdrop in a while; I wanted to experiment with shadows and learn how to manipulate the light. So far I think I've made some progress. By the way, hair and make up were inspired by Mila Kunis!
